What is a Cobot?
A cobot is a robot designed to work directly alongside humans in a shared workspace. Unlike traditional industrial robots that require safety cages to prevent accidents, cobots feature advanced sensors that detect human presence and stop movement immediately if they touch a person. They combine the strength and precision of automated machinery with the flexibility and judgment of human workers. These machines are typically used for tasks that involve heavy lifting, repetitive assembly steps, or precise movements that would cause fatigue or strain for a human employee over a long shift.
Why this matters to you
They allow businesses to increase productivity and reduce workplace injuries by letting robots handle the physically demanding or monotonous parts of a job while keeping human workers in control of the overall process.
How you might hear this
We added a cobot to the assembly line to assist workers with the heavy lifting of engine parts, which has significantly reduced the physical strain on our team.
