What is an Escalation?
Escalation is the process of moving a customer request from an automated system to a human employee. AI tools monitor conversations for signs of confusion, anger, or complexity that the software cannot handle on its own. When the system identifies these triggers, it stops the automated flow and alerts a person to take over. This ensures that the customer receives the right level of support without getting stuck in a loop of unhelpful, automated responses. It acts as a safety net for the business.
Why this matters to you
It protects your company reputation by ensuring that high-stakes or emotional customer issues are handled by a person who can show empathy and solve complex problems that software might miss.
How you might hear this
The chatbot triggered an escalation to our senior support team once it realized the customer was asking for a refund that fell outside our standard policy.
