What is User Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA)?
User Entity Behavior Analytics is a security process that builds a baseline profile of how employees and devices typically interact with a company network. It uses artificial intelligence to learn the normal habits of every user, such as when they log in, which files they open, and what software they use. Once it establishes these patterns, the system constantly monitors for deviations. If a user suddenly attempts to download a massive amount of sensitive data at three in the morning or accesses folders they have never touched before, the system flags this activity as suspicious. By focusing on behavior rather than just static rules, it catches threats that traditional security software often misses.
Why this matters to you
It acts as a digital watchdog that protects your organization from hackers who have stolen legitimate login credentials. Because these attackers look like real employees, standard security tools often let them pass. This technology identifies the subtle, unusual actions that reveal an intruder is operating inside your account.
How you might hear this
Our security team is rolling out a new UEBA platform to help us detect potential insider threats and compromised accounts before any data is lost.
