What is Visual Search?
Visual Search is a technology that lets users search for information by using images instead of text. When you upload a photo or take a picture with your camera, the system scans the image to identify shapes, colors, patterns, and specific objects. It then compares these details against a database to find matching products or information. This process replaces the need to type descriptive keywords into a search bar, which is often difficult when you do not know the name of an item or how to describe it accurately.
Why this matters to you
It removes friction from the customer experience by allowing people to find exactly what they want using only a photo. This helps businesses increase sales by connecting shoppers to products they have seen in the real world but cannot name or describe in a search engine.
How you might hear this
We added visual search to our mobile app so customers can scan a piece of furniture and see if we sell something similar.
